We are back on August 19th!
Audition Skills Workshop
Career Advancing Work... Affordably!
Produced by: Nettles Artists Collective
Question
What are you doing this summer to advance your career? Don't let the
recession stop your journey. No money is not a reason not to work on
your craft and be the actor you would like to be. What better tool to
sharpen than how you package and present yourself?
Let's get more specific....
* Are you aware of how you are perceived in the audition room?
* Can you be yourself? Or, do nerves take over?
* Do you have a solid and consistent way of warming up and preparing
for auditions?
* How good are your audition pieces? Do you feel confident in your
choices? Do they fit YOU?
Organizers
This workshop is produced by Nettles Artists Collective and led by
Sandie Luna and Debora Balardini. Sandie Luna is an actress, director
and producer. She is a member of the Director's Lab at Iati Theater,
has been a cast member of the off-Bdwy hit Platanos & Collard Greens
for the last 4 years, has directed a one-woman show with residency at
Mabou Mines, and most recently along with Debora, produced the
workshop PanNYC, where the legendary artists Enrique Pardo and Linda
Wise from Paris conducted training for NY actors on Roy Hart voice
technique and Choreographic Theater. Debora Balardini has been
acting and dancing for over 20 years and is currently body-movement
director for East 3rd Ensemble. Along with developing a new one-woman
show, she is also an avid researcher of body and movement for actors.
Here is what the participants have to say:
"....If you still want to keep growing, stay open despite all the
negative vibes we may get casting agents on a weekly basis, this
workshop will help you. They gave so much and I actually came away
feeling even more optimistc, which I didn't think was possible! Maybe
it was timing, maybe it was faith, who knows, but for sure they are
going to be doing this on a monthly basis, and it's really worth
doing. I'd move over just to have it in my life." Clare Mckenna
(actress in NY training from Dublin)
Opportunity
July was a success! We listened and this time we are on a weekday to
give everyone the chance to take this productive workshop.
On Wednesday, August 19th from 6pm to 10pm we will be giving a
comprehensive and affordable auditioning workshop. Everyone will work
and everyone will walk out feeling more confident about who they are
as an artist and how to make that come across.
The cost is $50 if you register by August 12th and $65 after that.
Participation is limiter to 12 participants to allow everyone time to
work. Sign up and make sure that even in "bad times" you are being
good to your inner artist.

MEET AND WORK WITH TOP CASTING DIRECTOR
AMY GOSSELS!
*ONE ON ONE COMMERCIAL WORKSHOP* ($35)
SIGN UP NOW TO GUARANTEE YOURSELF THIS UNIQUE OPPORTUNITY IN AUGUST! OUR RECENT WORKSHOPS SOLD OUT SO QUICKLY THAT WE SET UP 2 ADDITIONAL WORKSHOPS – SEE BELOW!
Due to the overwhelming interest in meeting top Film, Television and Commercial Casting Director AMY GOSSELS, and the fact that the number of people we can actually audition at our casting sessions is so limited, we have decided to set up a few SPECIAL workshops where you will not only have the chance to meet and work with Amy Gossels personally, but you will also get a chance to meet and get acquainted with her associate Eliza Khan, who handles a lot of the bookings and is very involved in the decision making process.
This is a unique opportunity because you will have a five minutes ONE on ONE with Amy and you will be able to show her a little work - and since Amy specializes in commercial casting which is such a lucrative type of work for actors - you will read some commercial copy and it will be set up like a commercial audition, but the big difference will be that you will then get really productive and constructive feedback from her on how to improve that audition and potentially be more capable of booking future jobs! Also, by meeting her, those of you who stand out will certainly have a much better chance of being brought in for actual commercial auditions in the future, since Amy, like most Casting Directors, tends to give preference to actors she's met and whose work she feels good about! Also, after you read your copy and get her feedback, you will be able to give it another take or two, so you can show your ability to make adjustments, and of course, personally give her your headshot for her files! Also, before and after your one on one time with Amy, you will have plenty of time to get acquainted with her associate Eliza, and ask her questions about the business , and Eliza has been casting in New York for the past 10 years herself!
These workshops will be limited to a select number of respondents, so if you are interested, please get back to us right away! We set up a few workshops between January and July 2009, and due to the fact that these workshops sold-out so quickly and had waiting lists, we have decided to add two additional workshops in August! The upcoming workshop dates are Thursday, August 13th from 3:00 – 4:30pm and Sunday, August 16th from 2:00 – 3:30pm, in Mid-town Manhattan. Each person will be given a 5 minute time slot, so you don’t even need to make a full afternoon or evening commitment! Just let us know which date you are interested in when you respond so we can do our best to accommodate you!
The cost of this ONE on ONE workshop is only $35, and whether you’re new to the business or a very seasoned professional, this is a GREAT – and very affordable - investment in your career! These workshops are perfect for CHILDREN and ADULTS, as Amy is adept at working with actors of ALL ages, and we regularly cast talent in all age ranges. Also, if you are interested, we will happily forward Amy Gossels’ extensive Casting Bio and you can look up her more than 50 Film Casting Director credits on imdb at http://www.imdb.com/name/nm0331652/ <http://www.imdb.com/name/nm0331652/>
We look forward to hearing from you and meeting you in August!
