Program exerpt from July
5, 2001 "Salute to Latino Professional Organizations" at City
Hall, New York City...
July 5, 2001
On behalf of the Council
of the City of New York, we take great pleasure in welcoming you tonight
to our first-ever Salute to Latino Professional Organizations.
From year to year, Latinos
throughout New York have continued to make great strides, breaking through
cultural barriers and contributing in so many ways to the strength and
vitality of our City. No other group has come to better reflect the ideals
of hope, freedom and prosperity than New York's own Latino community.
All too often, the invaluable
work performed each day by our City's professional organizations goes
by unnoticed. Yet these organizations continue to play a crucial role
in the lives of their members, providing important networking opportunities
and instilling in each a sense of pride and satisfaction in what they
have accomplished.
The organizations being
honored tonight have worked diligently to help Latinos advance both professionally
and personally. They represent the fine heart and spirit not only of the
Latino community but also of our entire City, and tonight we pay tribute
to their outstanding work and achievements.
We hope you enjoy!
Sincerely,
Peter F. Vallone
