Fecha: Thu, 28 Aug 2008 03:00:42 -0000 Asunto: [NoPassport] Film in search of Latino actor - can you recommend? Passing on a message from former Austin TX theater director Vicky Boone, now a casting director: "I am currently casting a SAG feature film called THE GIRL, that will shoot in Brownsville TX in the spring. The film is written and directed by David Riker (LA CIUDAD), produced by Paul Mezey / Journeyman Pictures (HALF NELSON, MARIA FULL OF GRACE) and will star Emily Blunt (THE DEVIL WEARS PRADA). It is a beautiful script. I am looking for a seasoned Latino actor, age 35-55, for the role of MR. CHAVEZ and hopes that you all can help me get the word out to actors you know who might be a match. MR CHAVEZ is in three scenes and opens the movie. The character is described as: 40s, Chicano, a tough manager of a Walmart in San Antonio. He might also have a suburban quality. I am looking for a veteran actor who can brings many layers to life quickly and also give the audience a strong sense of place. The project is currently auditioning actors in Texas and beyond. If you know someone who might be a match, please send me their name and email address (or forward this notice to them and encourage them to email me directly) at vickyboone@gmail.com. We will be able to accept their audition on tape and I can provide them with the technical details for this. We anticipate that MR CHAVEZ will shoot out in 1-4 days. Union and Non-union actors are eligible for casting because Texas is a right to work state. Thanks for your help! Vicky Boone vickyboone@gmail.com"

Hello. I'm hoping you can help identify professional Latino actors in and around St. Louis Missouri. I am a member of a theater company that needs Latino and Latina actors. The company is producing a play (the second) that calls for a Latino as lead for a fine play. I am constantly told that there are no Latino actors (members of the local actors' equity or other union) in the area. Parts are being played by persons who cannot truly convey the nuances of our cultures. I want to be able to go to the theater's board with names and ways to find and engage Latinos. Please send submissions to: Luis H. Zayas 329 Belt Avenue St. Louis MO 63112 or luishzayas@msn.com.
